2008 Los Angeles Auto Show: 2009 Nissan 370Z, New Details Revealed
Nissan 370z is reworked, redesigned after the debut of 350z, for 2009… And its revealed now… Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager of the Nissan division commented that The Z-car is the “greatest performance value in the world,”.
Nissan announced pricing for its 2009 370Z sports car… Starting at $29,930, the 370Z Coupe is about $1,500 more expensive than the 350Z it replaces. The base model comes with a 6-speed manual, while upgrading to a 7-speed automatic brings the total to $31,230. Nissan 370Z will have a new 3.7-liter V-6 that makes 332 horses, up 26 from the previous engine, a same engine as we have in the Infiniti G37 Coupe.
Estimated fuel economy is 18mpg in the city and 26mpg on the highway for the six-speed manual model – about 1mpg higher than the outgoing 350Z. The automatic is expected to feature similar fuel-economy.
The car also comes with 18in wheels fitted as standard.
For the first time, the Z features aluminum door panels, along with an all-aluminum hood and an aluminum hatch. The new Z also maintains the previous model’s zero front lift and zero rear lift when equipped with the rear spoiler.
Standard interior comfort and convenience features include Nissan’s Intelligent Key with a power starter button, two 12volt power outlets, four cupholders, high intensity discharge (HID) bi-functional xenon headlights, and a four-speaker stereo. The seats are available with optional leather trim, heater functionally, and electronic four-way adjustable movement.
Nissan thinks the new Z will have what it takes to contend with the Porsche Cayman, and it’s already said it will be targeting the German sports carmaker with its latest coupe. It is scheduled to go on sale in North America in January, followed by a new 370Z Roadster for the 2010 model year.

” A TOP CLASS SuperCar ”
2009 Nissan GTR deserves this tagline, with its awesome looks… I’m just loving it. Well, The arrival of the Nissan GT-R in the US just whets the appetites of those who have been longing after the vehicle made famous in film and video games. If you’ve ever indulged in the video game Gran Turismo, you can easily speculate to this beast’s performance capabilities. Nissan Motor Co. has reported that over 2,000 pre-orders were made in Japan, prior to the official release early October 2007, which accounts for an entire month’s planned sales volume. It will surly be lining up in June 2008 for you.
Let’s have a look at some specifications and details of this Classy release of Nissan – The most eagerly anticipated new performance car of the century…
Price est.: $70,000
HP: 480 @ 6,400 rpm
Torque: 430 lb-ft @ 3,200 – 5,200
0 – 60 mph: 3.5 seconds
¼ mile: 11.7 seconds
For the first time ever, Japanese auto manufacturer—Nissan, will be gracing North America with their prized sports car. The Skyline will be sold simply as the GT-R. Why Nissan chose to drop the word Skyline is unknown, all that matters is that the GT-R is coming and should be available in the summer of 2008.
The GT-R’s engine is a cast aluminum cylinder block, 3.8 liter, twin-turbo V-6. Which bangs out a much needed 480 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, to hurl the 3,850 pound vehicle from zero to sixty in 3.5 seconds. According to Swan, “Nissan left with a hot-lap claim on the Nordschleife—7:38—that puts its competition on the trailer. A current Corvette Z06 covered those 12.9 wicked miles in 7:49. A 911 Turbo is on record at 7:54.”
What makes the GT-R so unique, is the fact that it compares to sports cars twice its price—the Mercedes SLR McLaren, Porsche Carrera GT, and the Bugatti Veyron. Car and Driver’s Tony Swan compares the GT-R’s down-force, of 176 pounds at 186 mph, to the Porsche 911 Turbo’s ($50,000 more than the GT-R); which only produces 60 pounds of down-force, at the same speed.

INFINITI FX50 Just Unveiled at an improvised night club of Geneva
Nissan Motor Company president and CEO Carlos Ghosn introduced the new FX to a capacity crowd of more than 500 journalists, and the occasion also served as the coming-out party for the Infiniti brand in Europe, where sales of these four products will begin this October.
Americans get the second-generation FX beginning this June. Some changes like a bump in engine displacement for the V-8 engine, from 4.5 to 5.0 liters. Horsepower also increases dramatically, to 390 hp, and there’s now 369 lb-ft of torque. The engine, which redlines at a lofty 6900 rpm, is mated to a new seven-speed automatic transmission with downshift rev matching and, of course, paddle shifters. Nissan won’t reveal details yet about the V-6 engine, so we don’t know whether it will also rise in displacement from its current 3.5 liters to 3.7 liters like the engines in the G37 coupe and sedan have. More information is expected later this month at the New York auto show. The FX will also be offered with a diesel engine in Europe by 2010. The FX50 displayed at the Infiniti party sported metallic purple paint, as purple seems to be the launch color for Infiniti in Europe.
The 2009 Infiniti FX50′s interior is a big step up from the FX45′s, with the same sort of “double-wave” instrument panel that has appeared in other recent Infiniti products like the G37 and EX crossover, new front seats with inflatable side supports (like Mercedes has offered for a while), and, to continue the purple theme, white-and-violet-colored electroluminescent gauges.
